About Pavlis

What is Pavlis?

We are a group of students at Michigan Technological University working to develop our skills as leaders in a rapidly evolving technological world. We have been taking classes and working with each other to develop our leadership skills through the Pavlis Institute for Global Technological Leadership for the past three years.

Last year our cohort was divided into two groups; there are five students going to Ghana and the four of us will be traveling to India. Our primary goal throughout the program is to develop ourselves as leaders and learn to lead in a foreign environment. Throughout our classes we have learned about culture, communication, working in a team, and many other skills necessary to an effective leader. Our main goal while we are abroad is to make a positive impact on the people and communities that we visit. We will do this by bringing medical supplies to local hospitals, collecting data for water treatment, teaching lessons at schools in rural villages, and much more.

As the first group to go to India through this program, a large majority of our efforts will go toward  collecting information for future cohorts to use in the development of their projects. We also hope to build good relationships with the people and communities that we work with during our time in Chennai.
